Call On God!

My husband always gives me a hard time because I talk so often on the telephone. I love calling up my friends, seeing how their day has gone, and share about how crazy things have been in my life.

There is nothing like having a friend give you advice, listen to your worries, or just tell you that everything is going to be okay. Sometimes I feel better when I hang up just because I was able to "talk" about it and get it off of my chest.

I often wonder why I don't treat God as one of my "phone" friends. Why don't I talk to him when I am worried, stressed, or confused?

1 Peter 3:12 says "The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right, and his ears are open to their prayers."

There are several benefits to calling on God:

1) His line is NEVER busy.

2) He will never put you on hold and forget about you.

3) You won't have to pay a long distance bill.

4) He won't have to let you go because one of His children just stuck a rock up their nose.

and...

5) He will never STOP listening even when you feel like you have gone on and on and on...

God wants us to talk to Him ALL DAY LONG - not just as night or in the morning. He longs for us to have a relationship with him and a relationship means that we are always communicating and sharing.

God will be there when you call on Him. He will be an ever present help any time that we need Him. But just like your friends, you have to call on Him in order to communicate with Him. The relationship will not work if He is ALWAYS the one calling and you never answer or return His calls.

Think about that today when you get ready to call a friend to vent or share something important in your life. Share it with God first and let Him put your mind at ease, make you feel better, or give you the encouragement that you need.

Something to think about:
How many times do you call on God each day?
Do you only call on Him when you need something or do you worship and communicate with Him all day long?
Do you ever ignore God when He is calling you?
Do you put God on hold so that you can deal with other things in your life?

Words of Worth:
"If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from Heaven." 2nd Chronicles 7:14

"We can be confident that he will listen to us whenever we ask Him for anything in line with His will." 1 John 5:14

"The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right, and his ears are open to their prayers." 1 Peter 3:12
